id:901
On the occasion of the 5th Conference of the Council of Europe on the European Landscape Convention (Strasbourg, 30-31 March 2009), the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage expressed its willingness to host in Florence in 2010 a Ceremony to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the opening for signature of the European Landscape Convention. The Council of Europe Secretariat thanked the Italian delegation for its proposal, pointing out that the meeting would be planned as part of the work programme of the European Landscape Convention
The proposal to organise such a Conference, entitled "FLORENCE + 10", was initially formulated by Claudio Martini, President of the Tuscany Region - in agreement with Gabriella Cundari, President of the European Network of Local and Regional Authorities for the implementation of the European Landscape Convention (RECEP-ENELC) - at the first Tuscan Landscape Biennial (Florence, 12-15 November 2008). President Martini recommended that "FLORENCE + 10" be organised by the above-mentioned Ministry in co-operation with the Tuscany Region, involving the three networks dedicated to the Convention (RECEP-ENELC, UNISCAPE and CIVILSCAPE).
