Starting of the ELC local implementation Project "La Real"

The Consell Insular de Mallorca has promoted an agreement of collaboration between the public administration bodies at national, regional and local level involved in the Project for the implementation of articles 5 and 6 of the European Landscape Convention in the territory of  “La Real” (Majorca, Spain), with the support of RECEP-ENELC and the Fundació Cultural Monestir de la Real. The objective of the agreement is to arrange the formal framework of collaboration among the above mentioned parties, which will allow the planning, financing and implementation of projects aimed at the protection, management, and planning of the landscape dimension of the territory of “La Real”. In this regard, the launch of a master plan (guidelines) was provided for and edited by an interdisciplinary and inter-sectorial working group. On 30 April 2009 a meeting took place in Palma de Mallorca (Spain) concerning the content of the agreement of collaboration. Those participating at the meeting included representatives from: Govern de les Illes Balears – General Directorate of Health and Department of Agriculture and Fisheries – Consell Insular de Mallorca, Ajuntament de Palma of Majorca, Fundació Cultural Monestir de la Real and RECEP-ENELC.

On the initiative of the Consell Insular de Mallorca, meetings were launched with representatives of NGOs and local economic actors involved in the “La Real” Project, in order to link their activities to the initiatives carried out with the aim of improving the quality of the landscape in which they operate and which they know. Their possible participation in the Project will be publicized at the local and international level, in the framework of the activities supported by RECEP-ENELC. (25 May 2009)


In the framework of the Project for the implementation of articles 5 and 6 of the European Landscape Convention in the territory of “La Real” (Majorca, Spain), the Consell Insular de Mallorca with the support and the supervision of RECEP-ENELC, in collaboration with the Govern de les Illes Balears – General Directorate of Health, the Ajuntament de Palma of Majorca – Urban and Housing Building Councillorship and the Fundació Cultural Monestir de la Real, started the process of creation of guidelines edited by a working group involving different fields. On 15 December 2008 took place in Palma de Majorca (Spain) a technical meeting concerning the Project "La Real" referring to the implementation of articles 5 and 6 of the European Landscape Convention in the island of Majorca. Political representatives of the Consell insular de Mallorca, RECEP-ENELC (which supports the project), local people and experts took part in the meeting. The meeting represented an opportunity to discuss the integration of the project in the landscape policy being drafted by the Consell Insular de Mallorca. (19 December 2008)
